It’s been a relatively mild day in this part of West Cork with mainly cloudy skies and temperatures rose to 4.9C at 13:06. The temperature has been falling since around 15:00 and dropped as low as 0.1C at 20:44; but has since risen again to 0.5C.

Today is the 12th day this month to experience an air frost with temperatures down to -2.8C at 04:52. It’s a little warmer now at -1.2C, the temperature having risen 0.5C in the last hour.

Temperatures fell very rapidly towards the end of the afternoon and dropped below zero shortly after sunset. It’s now -3.3C, the coldest it’s been all day.
The barometer has climbed to 1027.8mb and is rising at 0.76mb/hour. Winds have been mainly calm since late afternoon so there’s no additional wind chill.

Temperatures have been below freezing all night with a low of -2.2C. This will continue to exacerbate the icy road conditions on both major and rural routes in West Cork and beyond. It’s currently -1.7C, up just 0.1C in the last hour.

We had 0.05″ of rain between 22:00 and midnight last night, falling onto freezing road surfaces. Things could be very icy indeed this morning.

It’s getting difficult to think of original post titles now as the cold spell continues into a second week. The temperature has continued to fall all night in a series of drops and rises with each subsequent fall colder than the previous.

Temperature is currently -2.5C, up from the low for the day of -3.3C just 20 minutes ago.
The barometer is falling a little faster and now reads 1003,0mb, down 0.3mb in the last hour. Winds are mainly calm with just very occasional light airs.

Temperatures didn’t rise as high as yesterday with a maximum of 4.9C under clear skies and light winds. It’s down below freezing again now at -0.8C, down 0.6C in the last hour.
The barometer reads 1003.9mb and is falling very slowly at 0.14mb/hour. Winds are dead calm.
