A second low pressure system this week is now sitting off the northwest of Ireland and is due to pass to the north of us through today. This is the predicted surface level pressure for today, 06:00, based on the 00:00 GFS run:

Continuous light rain has been falling since around 20:30 to give 0.03″ (0.76mm) rainfall with 0.02″ (0.51mm) in the last hour. Temperature is still mild at 10.2C, up 0.3C in the last hour.

The bright blue sky has given way to a thin high cloud in the last hour as can be seen on the 12:15 (UTC) satellite image from sat24.com:

Tomorrow, Sunday 7th November, and into Monday we can expect the first big storm we’ve had for some time. At the moment the depression that will form this storm is a fairly innocuous looking low to the southwest of Greenland, the low is indicated in the top left corner:

Here's a synoptic chart showing the high pressure system that's been established in the North Atlantic for over a week now. This anti-cyclone is effectively blocking Atlantic lows from reaching Ireland whilst bringing us relatively benign weather with light winds and plenty of sunshine.
